Abstract

In Cuba, the lack of intitutions concerning the formation of teachers before 1959 was quite frequent in provisional government. After the Triumph of the Revolution and as a consequence of political, economic and social transformations, the role of teachers in society was rescued. The current research allows deepening in the historical development of the Preschool teachers´ formation since the triumph of the Revolution to the year 2010 taking into account their main characteristics and the different stages it has passed through. In order to make the research, the author was attached to the Olga Franco Garcia’s specific stages that were exposed in her master degree thesis (1999). They served as a base to deepen into the initial formation of Preschool teachers in Santiago de Cuba.
