Desirable competence in the university professor: management of the communication of open science oriented to sustainable development

Open science communication enables humanity to better react to the main problems associated with sustainable development, which arise both on a planetary and local scale. In the case of universities, the training and development of competencies that strengthen this type of communication is urgent. The objective of the work was to propose the management of open science communication aimed at sustainable development, as a new desirable professional competence for university professorate. The methodology was based on theoretical modeling through Holistic-Configurational Theory. The result was the definition of the aforementioned professional competence and its corresponding foundation, supported by a new pedagogical model of training management. It is valued that university professors who develop this competence will reflect a level of excellence in their professional performance.
