Abstract

The present article is intended to deepen in the institutionalization process of Preschool Education in Santiago de Cuba starting from the concern and action of education in general and the concern and action of the child in particular that promoted in Latin America in the XIX century. It has been highlighted modalities of the educational attention toward preschoolers such as kindergarten, preschool schools, home institutions, creches, among others. At the same time, it is shown the course of the institutionalization process in the city since the triumph of the Revolution in 1959 to the present, emphasizing the role of the national Administration of Kindergarten, the Infant Institute and the National System of Education.
