Vocational orientation, from the basic education toward the professional technical formation from the Based Learning in Project

Abstract

Introduction: This research was conducted in two Ecuadorian educational institutions: the San Esteban Educational Unit and a private elementary school. Its purpose was to address the following problem: "How can we improve vocational guidance for Vocational Training for students in Basic General Education?" This was due to shortcomings identified by the authors in their professional practice. The research aimed to develop a vocational guidance strategy for Vocational Training based on project-based learning (PBL). Materials and methods: The research used theoretical methods (analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, and modeling from a systems approach) and empirical methods (surveys and interviews). Results: The feasibility of the strategy developed as a proposed solution to the problem was corroborated through a case study, which demonstrated the educational potential of PBL and its effectiveness in developing vocational guidance for Vocational Training. Discussion: Vocational guidance, from Basic Education to Vocational Training (PBL), is of great importance due to its impact on students' inclination toward technical baccalaureate studies and the opportunity to prepare early for the labor market. This makes it advisable to develop an educational strategy for vocational guidance in Basic Education toward Vocational Training, which will facilitate the school's work. Conclusions: Vocational guidance from Basic Education to Vocational Training allows for the development of motivation, creativity, responsibility, and hard work, aspects that are essential for success in the workplace.
