Abstract

Introduction: From a theoretical perspective, child and psychomotor development has been analyzed by authors such as Piaget, Vygotsky, Wallon, Montessori, Le Boulch, and Fonseca, as well as by regulatory documents issued by the Ministry of Education of Ecuador and the National Curriculum Guidelines for Early Childhood Education. Objective: This article aims to analyze the use of sensory activities as teaching strategies to stimulate fine motor skills in three- and four-year-old children in Early Childhood Education at the Valdivia Basic Education School. Materials and Methods: This research is both bibliographic and applied, with a qualitative approach, proposing the integration of sensory experiences into the children's daily pedagogical routine. Results: It is evident that working with textures, sounds, colors, temperatures, and varied materials enhances the development of fine motor coordination, essential for the literacy process and the child's autonomy. Conclusions: The results indicate that sensory activities, when mediated by pedagogical intent, promote not only motor development, but also language, socialization, and the construction of symbolic thought.
