Treatment to the racial problem from the teaching learning of the program "Moral Education and Citizen"

Introduction: The existence of inadequacies from the Moral and Civic Education program in 8th grade regarding racial issues, conditioned the present study whose scientific problem is How to address racial issues from the teaching-learning process of the "Moral and Civic Education" program in 8th grade? For which the objective is to design a System of activities to strengthen the treatment of racial issues from the teaching-learning process of the Moral and Civic Education program in 8th grade, its application revealed the possibilities of the program revealing significant changes in students. Materials and methods: The research was developed at Espino Fernández Secondary School in the city of Santiago de Cuba as part of the results of the Student Scientific Group: Racial Identity and Cultural Practices in the School Context, associated with the Research Project: Racial Identity and Cultural Practices Approaches from Today's Cuban Society. It also responds to the National Program against Racism and Racial Discrimination, of the Council of Ministers, 2019. Results: The diagnosis carried out showed deficiencies in 8th grade students, which served as guidelines to propose activities as a solution to the problem at hand. These activities were applied in the selected sample, in students from the Espino Fernández basic secondary school in Santiago de Cuba, who showed interest and motivation towards the racial problem, which reveals relevance and possibility of generalization. Discussion: The teaching-learning process of the Moral and Citizenship Education program for 8th of the III Improvement, demands the search for alternatives for the treatment of the racial problem, starting from considering its inclusion, but in an implicit way, and not explicit as previously considered, however, there are possibilities for its treatment, hence the proposals presented. Conclusions: The socialization workshop conducted with experienced teachers revealed that, even when racial issues are eliminated as a topic, the content system serves as a foundation for addressing them. The overall design was relevant and allows for easy implementation.
