Based learning in projects (ABP) in the module formative cultivation of short cycle

Introduction: The training of human resources for the development of agriculture is a vital task in which the Technical Baccalaureate in Agricultural Production plays a fundamental role. The curriculum of this type of educational institution includes the training module Production and propagation of short-cycle crops in open fields and/or under cover, which prepares students in the management of a type of crop that offers ample possibilities for achieving food security and improving nutrition. The identification of deficiencies in the teaching-learning process motivated the authors to develop a research with the objective of designing a didactic alternative for the implementation of project-based learning (PBL) for this purpose. Materials and methods: The research was carried out at the Tachina High School in the city of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. Results: The result of the case study carried out at the Tachina High School in Esmeralda, Ecuador, has shown the relevance of the proposal by considering the interdisciplinary nature and application of knowledge, which give meaning to learning and preparation for life in general and work in particular. Discussion: Project-Based Learning as a methodology allows the development of creativity, responsibility, teamwork, decision-making, and inquiry, qualities that are essential for success in the workplace. Conclusions: Education in the Technical High School of Agricultural Production is of great importance due to its impact on the development of professional skills in students to access the labor market with chances of success, especially when this type of institution is mainly attended by students who come from the sectors of the population with fewer resources; this advises the use of active methodologies and especially Project-Based Learning, which enables the appropriation of knowledge, skills, and values that prepare them for work.
