Abstract

Hebert Pérez Concepción is one of the most diligent scholars of the life and work of José Martí, professor and principal investigator of the Center for Cuban and Caribbean Social Studies "José Antonio Portuondo" of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He completed university studies in the United States, where he graduated from Bachelor of Arts, History at Duke University, North Carolina in 1963. From that same year began his teaching career at the University of Oriente, to join the School of History. His performance has stood out due to Marti's constant promotional work, since the years in which he presided over the Martiana Chair of the Universidad de Oriente and he was member of the Board of Directors of the José Martí Cultural Society in Santiago de Cuba.
