This article pays attention to diverse aspects that must be taken into account when a school wants to start a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) project. To do so, firstly the main characteristics of the CLIL methodology are revised. Then, some of the experiences carried out in this sense in some European countries are mentioned. After that, some of the reasons which would justify taking part in this kind of project are highlighted. Finally, a number of characteristics that any school wishing to become a bilingual school through a CLIL project should take into consideration are suggested.
