Cultural identity in the poetic text of Nicolás Guillén

Introduction: The scientific article presented here takes up the work of Nicolás Guillén as a reflection of national identity through his poetic texts, revealing the national, Caribbean and universal character of his poetry. This poet is particularly important for study in secondary school. Materials and methods: The methodology used to verify the difficulties during the literary analysis of the texts in the Literature subject were: classroom observation, interviews with principals and teachers, and a survey of 9th grade students, which corroborated the difficulties in the treatment of the analysis of literary texts and the limited understanding of the value of his artistic and poetic work during the teaching-learning process, which limits the learning and development of the mother tongue. Results: As a result, a proposal of activities for the development of cultural identity is offered, through the subject Literature in the 9th grade, to solve the deficiencies of cognitive domain and the comprehensive general culture of the students, so that they can appreciate and interpret the roots of Cuban culture through an adequate textual understanding by the students. Discussion: As a discussion, three theoretical-practical workshops are carried out that make it possible to provide pedagogical-didactic treatment to teachers, in order to solve their deficiencies related to the approach to the poetic work of the national poet, his style and resources of the literature that he uses, and so that a better professional performance is achieved. Conclusions: The result of the research: is the elaboration of didactic activities for the development of cultural identity from the analysis of texts by Nicolás Guillen in ninth grade, so that a greater depth of the work of the National Poet is noted due to the significance it has for the teaching-learning process.
