Introduction: This article presents a systematic literature review on personal finance among university students during the period 2010–2025, following the methodological guidelines of the PRISMA statement and the standards of the seventh edition of APA style. Materials and methods: The analysis of 44 reviewed studies reveals that research has focused on dimensions such as financial knowledge, financial behavior, and attitudes, with a growing emphasis on specific subtopics such as budgeting, student debt, and the adoption of digital financial tools. Results: The findings reveal significant disparities in the implementation of financial education according to academic disciplines, demographic factors such as gender and geographic origin, as well as the emergence of new challenges associated with the post-pandemic digital transformation. Discussion: A methodological gap is identified in the application of behavioral theories to understand the psychological determinants of financial behavior. Conclusions: The article concludes with a research agenda that prioritizes the study of financial behaviors contextualized to the youth environment and proposes practical implications for curriculum designers and educational policymakers.
