Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to contribute to the methodological preparation of Physical Education teachers with the aim of improving the quality of life of mastectomized women, from the sphere of therapeutic and prophylactic physical education. The research was conducted at the "López Peña" Teaching Polyclinic in Santiago de Cuba, where women with this condition are rehabilitated. The actions proposed to the rehabilitation teacher include inclusive therapeutic physical exercises, Yoga and Tai Chi, which are novel and effective. Materials and methods: Based on the applied diagnosis and scientific observation, it was possible to identify difficulties in the acceptance and reintegration of these women into everyday life in society. To carry out this study, methods, techniques, and instruments were applied to diagnose their current status: surveys and interviews, where inclusion, exclusion, exit, and agreement to participate in the study criteria were taken into account. Results: Although the benefits of physical activity practices are recognized and accepted at the physiological, psychological, sociological, and educational levels, in certain contexts and situations, the need for these women to practice physical activity systematically is unknown. Discussion: Regardless of the fact that, in each community, efforts are made to eliminate discrimination in society regarding these women due to the sexual significance of the breast, the issue continues to be clearly highlighted and repudiated in some sectors or contexts of our society. Conclusions: From the implementation of these actions as part of the scientific project that implemented them, an improvement in their recovery was observed. In these educational contexts, mutual understanding between beneficiaries and specialists is important, as is the inclusion of the entire community in the guided tasks.
