Social impact and life history model of Dr. Silvia Carlota Jústiz Hernández

Abstract

Introduction: Value is considered a category containing the axiological dimension in the training of health professionals through the professional life history of a personality of Medical Sciences in Cuba, which proposes a challenge in strengthening axiological training as a guiding principle in the academic process in postgraduate studies. Materials and methods: Life history, interview, survey, analysis-synthesis, and historical/logical methods are used. Results: Values are present in a health paradigm in Cuba, which has gone through all stages of the specialized training process in our country since the pre-revolutionary stage where the referent in the city of Havana was born, female, black race and from a humble family who, due to her dedication, managed to graduate as a health professional with the revolutionary triumph, developing an excellent professional performance in care, teaching, research, and management until her last days of life. Discussion: By creating their own cultural heritage and providing their entire professional experience in an exemplary manner, this constitutes the integrative analysis unit of the training process for health professionals, given that it explicitly brings together significant values that enshrine it from a scientific and humanistic perspective in Cuban medical training. Conclusions: The social impact of the lifestyle model defined its scientific and humanistic consecration, hence its validity as a social value in the professional training process.
