Abstract

Introduction: This article was written based on the results of the project: Creation of a Traveling Exhibition of the Omagua Culture, to Promote the Art, Culture and Archaeology of the Northern Amazon of Ecuador (065.CP.2022). Its objective is to carry out a bibliographic review on the art of seals through the Omagua culture in the Northern Amazon of Ecuador. Materials and methods: This bibliographic review article analyzed documents found in indexed databases such as Scielo, Google Scholar, to contrast information related to the art of seals in the Omagua culture in the Northern Amazon of Ecuador. Results: The curation, museography and relationship around pre-Columbian seals update the knowledge of this art that is not forgotten. The knowledge around these objects is constantly updated, through studies such as this one and available archaeological bibliography. Discussion: The strength of the seals lies in their communicative capacity, which goes beyond the material objective. As creators of images and transmissions of social meanings, stamps do not connect with the past, but rather generate reflections in the present. The exhibition displays three axes: the visual richness of stamps, explores their social life, and highlights their iconographic correspondences with other objects of material culture. Conclusions: The profound attraction that stamps arouse in the public due to their striking aesthetics, materiality, and symbolism, identified through educational mediation, gave rise to the first axis of the exhibitions.
