Introduction: Adventure tourism promotes sustainable development through economic, cultural, and environmental benefits, contingent upon balanced territorial management. The objective of this study was to analyze the population's perception of the sustainability of adventure tourism in Huamanga, Ayacucho. Materials and methods: A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted. The sample consisted of 312 residents, visitors, and economic actors linked to adventure tourism, selected using non-probability convenience sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-type questionnaire to assess the environmental, socioeconomic, cultural, and management dimensions. Results: The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Kruskal-Wallis tests (p < 0.05). The results showed a favorable perception of the sustainability of adventure tourism in the cultural (74.5%), environmental (74.1%), and socioeconomic (69.5%) dimensions. However, the management dimension received a lower positive rating (48.1%), highlighting weaknesses related to planning, institutional coordination, and the organization of tourism activities. Discussion: The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test confirmed the lack of normality in the data (p < 0.001), justifying the use of non-parametric techniques. Likewise, the Kruskal-Wallis test did not identify significant differences between the analyzed groups (p = 0.9779). Conclusions: It is concluded that the population perceives adventure tourism as a sustainable activity in general; however, the weaknesses identified in the management dimension constitute a significant limitation for its consolidation and long-term sustainability in the region.
