Organizational strengthening strategies with a gender approach in the Coordinadora Nacional Campesina Eloy Alfaro

Abstract

Introduction: Local development in Ecuador necessarily involves a deep reflection on the role of social organizations and the participation of rural women. Objetive: it analyzes how patriarchal structures and gender gaps limit the participation of rural women in decision-making, highlighting the need for gender-sensitive training strategies. Materials and Methods: the study used a mixed approach under the socio-critical paradigm and the phenomenological method; in-depth interviews and diagnostic forms were applied to a sample of 80 women from the organization in Santa Elena, Guayas, and Manabí. Results: 41.7% of those surveyed identify the domestic work burden as the main structural barrier to leadership. It is evident that 100% recognize the Amelia Quiñónez System as a capacity builder, detecting the need for a balanced technical-political training (50/50) and a second level of specialization. Discussion: these findings are contrasted with Latin American feminist thought, highlighting the importance of political autonomy for local development. Finally, as Conclusions: it is established that the implementation of a comprehensive training plan is key to transforming social management and consolidating female leadership with the capacity for real impact.
