Dialogue of knowledges and food sovereignty in agroecological production of the Cutuglagua parish

Objective: This article assesses the contribution of knowledge dialogue to strengthening the food sovereignty of agroecological producers in the peri-urban parish of Cutuglagua-Pichincha. Methodology: Using a qualitative Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, observation techniques, semi-structured interviews, and focus groups were applied. The unit of information was the parish of Cutuglagua-Pichincha; the unit of observation was agroecological vegetable producers; and the unit of analysis was the 74 delegates (54 older adults and 20 young women). The reference time was 2025. Results: There was evidence of generational complementarity of knowledge and expertise in strengthening SOBAL. The 60% Older Adults Group (GA) contributed its reserve of biocultural memory, the conservation of ancestral seeds, and the conception of food sovereignty as a harmonious way of life; the 35% Young Women Group (GB) contributed redefined sovereignty as a political right, technical innovation and access to alternative markets. Conclusion: The dialogue of knowledge validated local knowledge over academic technique. It articulated the ancestral vision of caring for life over economic viability. It positioned agroecology as a strategy for social and territorial resilience that rebuilds the community fabric and guarantees healthy food in highly vulnerable areas.
