Abstract

Introduction: The study aims to explore the strategies that allow the development of emotional intelligence in primary school students in America in the last 5 years, thus obtaining valuable information that serves as a reference to demonstrate good practices aimed at teaching this skill. Methodology: In this article, the methodology involved the search and review of scientific literature, corresponding to articles in indexed journals, both academic and interdisciplinary, with studies referring to the topic in databases such as Scopus, WoS and Scielo. Discussion: After putting the inclusion and exclusion criteria into practice, the application of traditional and unconventional strategies to develop EI was verified, not only in primary education students, but also in teachers who require this knowledge to promote their development in classrooms, in addition to verifying that most of these strategies are based on interaction and cooperation. Among these strategies are emotional literacy and training programs, in addition to physical education, sports, artistic activities, role-playing games, communication, group dynamics, among others, in addition to interaction in digital environments and the use of audiovisual resources. to help students better understand their emotions, considering that strengthening their EI also prevents school violence, improves their stress management, health and well-being, in addition to achieving greater academic performance and motivation.
