Abstract

Introduction: This article addresses an interesting topic related to the family in the development of conscious discipline in students and the need to prepare them to face the educational work that they must do with their children towards the development of good habits. Family education is a social aspect of vital importance, and in the research order, attention has been paid to the relationship between school and family, however, it is far from being exhausted. Results are presented from the Eloy Alfaro Educational Unit of Canton Balzar; its objective was to design Workshops for parents with the purpose of contributing to promote the role of the family in the development of conscious discipline in the 7th year students of the referred Unit. Materials and methods: Theoretical methods such as analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, as well as modeling were used; in the empirical order, observation, interviews and surveys were used. The feasibility of the contribution was validated through specialist criteria and its partial application where its relevance was confirmed. Results: Workshops were held on Social and Emotional Problems in School Environments and the Main Communication Styles: Passive, Aggressive and Assertive. These workshops were very interesting and useful to parents, as they were able to learn aspects related to the upbringing of their children and the need to use educational resources to exercise and act through new educational styles and guidelines that emphasize discipline, both at home and at school and in various contexts. Discussion: The family is considered the functional unit that builds the destiny of a society every day, hence the importance of being able to develop adequately on the basis of conscious discipline, so that it is part not only of family development but also social development. This implies learning emotional responses to build assertive interpersonal relationships and thus be able to transmit a conscious discipline that is multiplied in different educational environments. Conclusions: The workshop carried out with the 6 selected specialists, as well as the implementation of two of the workshops proposed to parents of seventh grade students at the Eloy Alfaro Educational Unit in the Balzar Canton, Ecuador, allowed us to verify their feasibility and relevance, by contributing to strengthening educational work and the school-family relationship from an educational approach.
