Abstract

Introduction: Tutoring in the media: the journalist before the training of the professional, is an investigation that, from the qualitative methodology, has the objective of characterizing the pedagogical practices of the journalists who work as tutors of the students during the practices. labor, in the journalism career of the Universidad de Oriente.
Materials and methods: Based on a diagnosis of the manifestations of these pedagogical practices in the work settings in which the students are inserted.
Results: This study strengthens the ways to harmonize the consensual work between the University, the teaching units and base labor entities, in order to achieve the formation of a comprehensive graduate, in accordance with the requirements of Higher Education in the country.
Discussion: The journalist develops his activity fundamentally in the mass media: written and digital press, radio, television and information agencies, for which he produces informative content in its multiple and diverse manifestations. However, he can also work in educational institutions or in communication offices, as part of multidisciplinary groups; as well as in teaching units and basic labor entities linked to the profession, where the students of the career complete the period of labor practices.
Conclusions: In this analysis, the result of the investigation is specified, aimed at detecting insufficiencies and perceiving potentialities of these professionals, as actors in initial training.
