Incidence of the migration of ecuadorians to the United States in the family and educational context: case of the city of Cuenca-Ecuador

Abstract

This paper describes the problems in the area of mathematics in students entering secondary school: How to improve the resolution of mathematical problems to improve learning in students in first grade of secondary education? Therefore, this work is of importance because it reveals the peculiarities of Ecuadorian migrants. It was posed as a problem: How does the migration factor affect the family and educational context? The objective is the analysis of the incidence in the families of those Ecuadorians who migrate or have migrated to the United States and the current situation of migrants who have returned to the country, specifically, the case of the city of Cuenca – Ecuador. The methodology has a mixed approach, that is, qualitative and quantitative with the application of surveys and interviews, as well as the use of descriptive methods, historical logic and the thorough review of a broad scientific and documentary literature on the subject. The results showed an incidence in the families of family members residing in the United States and overcoming it; and, with those who returned to the country.
