Jorge Ibarra Cuesta was president of the FEU-UO in 1953, when he studied the second year of the career of law at the Universidad de Oriente. From that moment on, he did not cease in his struggle for independence and social justice, linked first to the movement directed by Rafael García Bárcenas, then in the Revolutionary Directory together with José Antonio Echeverría and Fructuoso Rodríguez, and finally in the Revolutionary Movement 26 Julio, reason why it had to emigrate to avoid the persecution of which it was victim. After the triumph of January 1, 1959 he returned to the Universidad de Oriente, graduated with a law degree and began a professional work as a historian that has made him one of our most brilliant investigators of National History.
