Keywords:
Intercultural perspective, José Marti, Teaching of History, Decolonizing and transformative education.Abstract
Introduction: José Martí was a visionary educator whose work foreshadowed the intercultural movement. His humanist approach makes him a key figure for reflecting on the teaching of history. This work aims to establish the foundations of Martí's intercultural perspective and its integration into the teaching of history. Materials and methods: We used the historical-logical method, induction-deduction, and documentary analysis. Results and discussion: This proposal fostered a reflective attitude regarding the importance of incorporating Martí's intercultural perspective into the teaching of history, not only as a source of knowledge but also for the ethical and moral values it embodies. Conclusions: Inspired by Martí, the university should be a space for dialogue, creativity, and social transformation. Institutions that adopt this approach demonstrate that a decolonizing and transformative education is possible.
