Abstract

Introduction: The training of competent agronomists in rural communities of Songo La Maya is a priority for strengthening local development management and territorial autonomy. This study aimed to propose a methodological approach that uses Student Research Projects as a tool for science, innovation, and communication, linking university processes with the Municipal Development Strategy (MDS) and local public policies. Materials and methods: A mixed-methods methodology was applied, integrating qualitative (focus groups, consultations, meaningful dialogue, and documentary analysis) and quantitative (questionnaires, standardized observations, and participatory assessment) methods. Institutional documents and training records were reviewed to identify needs, potential, and challenges in the preparation of agronomists in rural contexts. Results: The findings confirm the relevance of articulating intradisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and integrative principles in professional training. The Student Research Project strengthened the relationship between the university, community, and local government, promoting the active participation of students and faculty in solving problems related to food sovereignty, gender equity, and environmental sustainability. Discussion: The methodological approach streamlines learning management and enhances the training of agronomists with a systemic vision of territorial development, aligned with the social and productive demands of the rural context. Conclusions: The proposed approach contributes to the effective management of the EDM, consolidating an inclusive, participatory, and sustainable training model based on the integration of science, innovation, and communication.
