Action plan for gender and sexuality education in the university context

Abstract

Introduction: The study carried out raises the need to contribute to gender and sexuality education in students of the Electrical Engineering career at the Central University of Las Villas. Materials and methods: Two important documents were used: WHO Gender Policy and Gender Definitions of the Central University of Las Villas. The mixed methodology was applied in the research. Theoretical methods: historical-logical, inductive-deductive, analysis and synthesis, rise from the abstract to the concrete, systematization. Empirical methods: document analysis, observation, interviews, surveys, discourse analysis. Mathematical level methods, percentage analysis. Results: an action plan for gender and sexuality education was proposed where the actors of the teaching-educational process were involved to determine their needs, prepare the proposal and begin its implementation. Discussion: the action plan had the purpose of achieving positive changes in the students and their adequate involvement in a process that enables their correct behavior free of stereotypes, prejudices and stigmas; It influenced the formation of the integral man, capable of combining scientific-technological mastery and spiritual sensitivity. It demonstrated the importance of gender and sexuality education in students. Conclusions: The objective proposed in the research of implementing an action plan for gender and sexuality education was satisfactorily met and significant achievements were obtained. He achieved his impact in the university context.
