Introduction: This study analyzes the work Pelea de gallos, Páginas de Espuma, 2018 by María Fernanda Ampuero to unravel gender violence and the role of the perpetrating family through it. Materials and methods: Using the analysis-synthesis method, information related to the literary analysis was collected. Induction-deduction makes it easier to determine which of all the stories in the book Pelea de gallos by María Fernanda Ampuero are the most recommendable for the analysis of the family as a perpetrator of gender violence. The bibliographic search and the selection of texts and authors are also initiated with the objective of analyzing the patterns of gender violence in order to create a mapping that allows to recognize said behaviors with skill; in this way it would also be possible to qualitatively estimate their frequency rates and measure their impact. The historical-logical method facilitates the temporal approach to this phenomenon of gender violence and its diachronic and synchronous assessment in the selected literature. Results: From the bibliographic review it is inferred that theories based on family dynamics assume that violence is the result of problems derived from an inadequate interaction in the family and from the maladaptive patterns of problem solving of couples or family (or both) inherent in their relationships. Social and cultural theories, on the other hand, advocate the existence of cultural values that legitimize the control of men over women. Discussion: José Eduardo Serrato Córdova, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), in his essay "The gore aesthetics of María Fernanda Ampuero", studies the aesthetic repercussions of the theory of gore capitalism proposed by Sayak Valencia, in the narratives of Fernanda Ampuero. In addition, the author's explicit violence is focused on as a feminist proposal against the tyrannical pedagogy of patriarchy. In this same line of thought, Selma Rodal Linares, also from UNAM, with her article “Dehumanization as a counter-economic strategy in Pelea de gallos, by María Fernanda Ampuero”, published in issue 33 of the magazine Valenciana, proposes that the book exhibits the naturalization of the inhumanity of gore capitalism in the socio-affective relationships of intimate life. Conclusions: The work Pelea de gallos, by María Fernanda Ampuero, shows how the family can play roles that perpetuate gender violence of all kinds under the repetition of socio-learned and normalized patterns.
