Role of women and leadership in community assemblies. In the Febres Cordero Commune, Colonche parish

Abstract

Introduction: The process of social transformation of women as an essential part in decision-making of a leadership nature, in the Febres Cordero community belonging to the Santa Elena canton. The present study seeks to determine the relationship that exists between the role that has been given to women and the relevance with which they have contributed to the development of the local council. Materials and methods: The methodology that was used was mixed, with the purpose of expressing a holistic investigation; that takes the survey questions as well as the interviews as a reference. Results: 55% of the data collected demonstrate the importance of the role of women within community assemblies, using field, bibliographic and documentary research, a general knowledge of the subject on the part of citizens is appreciated. Discussion: The analysis of texts by authors referring to the subject is put into consideration, linking them with the existing reality and showing that although the theoretical part supports the development of women in political affairs, reality is distant from the literary articles, since for a woman has a leading role must overcome a large number of stereotypes created by the patriarchal society. Conclusions: With the application of this research work, the role of women as leaders in community assemblies and their significant contribution to development are taken into consideration by the community.
