The challenge of archaeological sources for Ecuadorian education

Abstract

Education in the cultural values of archaeological traces is a pedagogical challenge in Ecuador since it solves one of the conflicts that the teacher must assume from the social educational model, however, in its application there is a forgetfulness in spite of being a objective of the teaching of Natural Sciences, Social Studies and Geography including the formation of identity values. The objective of this work was to reflect and evaluate the presence in the curriculum of the archaeological dimension in basic education in the city of Machala. The methodological strategy was systematized through the methods: documentary analysis, scientific observation, analysis-synthesis and statistics, which allowed concluding that the teachers ignore the archaeological knowledge and there is a deficit educational work in terms of the protection of the archaeological heritage.
