Abstract

Just like any other profession, nursery, as a social product, has adopted in every epoch of the Cuban history the way in which it is possible through the circumstances of reference. The precarious health situation inherited, by the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in January 1959 and the existence only of technical education in nursery, motivated changes which turned the formation of human resources of the profession into a top priority object of attention in order to guarantee the efficient work of the incipient branch of institutions in the country. The creation of the Health National System, the foundation of the Cuban Nursery Society and the beginning of education at a college level of nursing personnel in the year 1976 influenced outstandingly to the process of professionalization nursery, which was considered a trade until then.
