Actions to strengthen the anti-imperialism value at the medical university of Santiago de Cuba

Abstract

Introduction: The Cuban Revolution has been immersed in constant transformations in a complex international context, which undermines the good progress of the process of education in values. Objective: Develop actions aimed at strengthening the anti-imperialism value in the students of the Medical University of Santiago de Cuba that allow them to consolidate their patriotic training. Materials and Methods: An intervention study was carried out on students from the aforementioned school institution, in the period from February to December 2022 in a sample of 120 students selected by stratified random sampling (chosen from the different faculties). Results: The results of the diagnosis determined the relevance of carrying out actions that strengthen the anti-imperialism value in the students so that this contributes effectively to the irreversible construction of socialism in Cuba and the unwavering defense of the homeland. Discussion: The authors highlight that, from academic settings, inappropriate manifestations in students that limit their patriotic and anti-imperialist convictions must be addressed. In this sense, Pérez et al. (2020) points out "The search for different ways to develop political-ideological work in Cuban universities and its implementation, needs to specify urgent alternatives in the face of the challenges posed by the enemy's fight to divide society and impose its model (...). Conclusions: The proposal of actions favors ethical and revolutionary training, love for the country, as well as the acquisition of anti-imperialist modes of action in students.
