Introduction: The study of Burnout in university students is a novel and very recent line of research. Material and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out during September 2012 and February 2013. The Maslach Burnout Inventory Student Survey (MBI-SS) was applied, validating it in a total sample of 487 students, from Medicine (288), Stomatology (64). and Physical Culture (135) of Holguín, using stratified random sampling. Results: Female sex (exhaustion: 30.4%, ineffectiveness: 8.7%, cynicism: 8.7%), male sex (32.1%, 23.2% and 12.5% respectively). Exhaustion predominated in both sexes (31.9%), followed by ineffectiveness (20.7%) and cynicism (11.9%). Discussion: The studies carried out in this sense have been aimed at confirming the incidence of the syndrome in these pre-professional samples. Conclusions: In Physical Culture there are no significant differences between both sexes in terms of levels of Burnout syndrome.
