Abstract

The concept of digital footprint has a lot of significance in the modern world, especially because of the way it impacts people's social lives and the ability to identify a series of basic elements for social interaction. In the physical world, the identification of people can fulfill legal, administrative, security functions, etc. Such is the case of the use of the national identity document, the driver's license or a professional title. Hence the relevance of studying what type of information can be collected about a person due to the use of the Internet and new technologies in general. That is why, in this work, once the generation of digital identity has been analyzed, the focus will be on the use of the digital fingerprint by third parties and the consequences that said use can represent for the user, as well as in the active and passive protection measures that can be adopted.
