Historical outline of the Bachelor in Computer Science at Universidad de Oriente

In the 70's, studies in Computer Science began at the Universidad de Oriente, Cuba, with a specialization in Computer Science/Cybernetics of Bachelor in Mathematics. In 1980 a special full-time group for the degree in Cybernetics Mathematics was created and in 1987 it began for half-time groups. The stable development of studies with the Computer Science Degree takes place in 1990. A detailed historical record of the fundamental milestones of these studies has never been made, thus the objective of this work is to elaborate a historical memory of the studies in Computer Science
at the Universidad de Oriente. To carry out this work, professors and students who have gone through different stages of the career were interviewed, and data from other faculty and university sources were retrieved and analyzed.
