Abstract

Introduction: In the mountainous municipality of Segundo Frente there are difficulties in the training of university students, which affect the development of environmental practices for the conservation of ecosystems with these characteristics. Therefore, it is proposed as an objective: implementation of a socio-community project that contributes from the university extension to the training of the university student as a promoter of the mountain agroecological culture. Materials and methods: The research is carried out in the Segundo Frente municipality, Santiago de Cuba province, in which different theoretical and empirical methods were used. Results: One of the contributions of the project is to relate new knowledge from science, incorporating peasant experiences into their training, contributing to the conservation of ecosystems and the production of healthy and quality food. Discussion: The university extension process plays a significant instructive-educational role in the formation of more professionally competent students, its mission is to preserve, develop and promote culture, facilitating dynamic university-society links. Conclusions: The project that is defended establishes pedagogical actions for the promotion of the mountain agroecological culture, which facilitates assimilating, interpreting, explaining and complementing the relationships and mediating socio-culturally from the community environment.
