This study is part of the continuous training projects in psychosocial intervention and critical factors for human organizational development. The diagnostic bases and an epistemological synthesis of role stress are presented, due to the importance of their effective management by doctors and nurses, both for their health and well-being and for their own organizational effectiveness. We worked with a mixed approach methodology (qualitative and quantitative) and it was applied as the main instrument until the moment the study finds a role stress questionnaire and a semi-structured interview with doctors and nurses; 30 subjects who became the pilot sample of the study. The internal consistency index (reliability) of the instrument used could be verified and a high role stress index was revealed in the surveyed sample.
