2. Before definitively sending the file, it is necessary for the authors to verify that they have entered the appropriately placed metadata on the platform. The files uploaded to the platform must not exceed 3Mb in weight.
3. The author will receive confirmation of receipt of his article within 10 days of its submission. In the period of one month from said reception, the Maestro y Sociedad magazine has the obligation to give an answer to its authors in relation to: Admission of the work and sending to evaluation by the experts. If there is a rejection by the Editorial Board before the article is sent for evaluation, if it is considered that it presents formal or thematic deficiencies that are important enough to not continue with the procedure. The need to make essential formal changes before it is passed on to evaluation by experts. The journal is committed to following the recommendations made by its evaluators. In the event that the author suggests a possible reviewer for his article or sends an arbitration carried out by a scientific professional, the journal reserves the right to take said recommendation into consideration or not.
4. Regarding the positions of the reviewers, the following criteria will be followed: If the two evaluators agree on the appropriateness of its publication, its authors will be informed in this way, in a single document. If both experts give a negative opinion, the article will be rejected. If there is a discrepancy, a third evaluator will be consulted to decide its approval or the editor will decide. If the evaluators consider it necessary to make changes, a second version will be requested from the authors. The decision on this version will be decisive to issue a final judgement.
5. The article will go to correction. The galley proofs will be sent to the author in .pdf. Once the modifications have been made by the authors, they can send it via email, within a Word document.
When there is more than one author, the corrected article will be sent only to the person who indicated the group when sending the original version and the communication will be with this person, unless the Director and/or Editor is indicated otherwise. The editor-corrector will receive back a single document with all the requested changes. In no case may the article be modified in such a way that it changes the final version approved by the evaluators.
Policy for declaration of conformity with Open Science principles
Open science is projected as the new modus operandi for conducting and communicating research with emphasis on the transparency of processes and the exchange of content in open access in favor of methodological rigor and cooperation between researchers. The advancement of open science depends on the proactive action of all the actors and instances of scientific research, among which the journals, their editors and reviewers stand out. Since 2018, SciELO has promoted, together with journals and the scientific community, the adoption of open science practices in four dimensions of scientific communication, in order to ensure that the quality journals it indexes follow the state of the art in scientific communication. which Master and Society adopts:
- First dimension: harmonization of the adoption of open access, with regard to the adoption of the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. for all articles and retention by authors of copyright, starting in January 2024.
- Second dimension: inclusion of the preprint modality and continuous publication in the flow of scientific communication.
- Third dimension: Exchange of data, codes, methods and other materials used and resulting from the research that normally underlie the texts of articles published in journals. This content is generically identified as “research data.” This sharing is the responsibility of the researchers involved in the research and they must inform the journal at the time of sending the manuscript. Every manuscript must be accompanied by a declaration section on the availability of the research data, which will be published in the final version of the article.
- Fourth dimension: Manuscript peer review process, which should be as informed as possible. The articles must contain in the final version the name of the editor(s) responsible for the evaluation process.
