Teaching-learning of polynomial functions with the support of GeoGebra and Artificial Intelligence
Abstract
Introduction: The teaching-learning of polynomial functions shows a limited use of digital tools such as GeoGebra and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Materials and methods: With a sample of 11 students and through direct observation and interviews, performance in solving an exercise was analyzed using seven possible approaches: traditional, GeoGebra, AI, and hybrid. Results and discussion: The results show that a very high percentage of students used AI only mechanically, without conceptual mastery; none used advanced combinations (GeoGebra+AI); and five main difficulties were detected, such as the focus on the result rather than on mathematical thinking and the lack of didactic integration of technologies. Conclusions: It is concluded that there is an urgent need for methodological strategies that promote the reflective and combined use of GeoGebra and AI, as well as broader studies that address the effective integration of these tools for the improvement of mathematics teaching.
