University-company link for chemistry analysis in shrimp production processes in Ecuador
Abstract
The objective of the research is to identify the levels of organic matter and nitrite in the shrimp pre-growth processes in two shrimp farming pools in the Canton Santa Rosa in Ecuador. The study is descriptive, its design is non-experimental, and the approach is qualitative. It was carried out during the second half of 2021. The analysis showed that the organic matter is extremely high in both pools and the nitrite level is below normal. The data obtained allow us to assert that the existing conditions considerably affect the adequate cultivation of shrimp. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that it is essential to monitor the levels of organic matter and nitrite in the shrimp culture, so that they do not enter the toxicity range for the species. In this way, aquaculture can benefit, being an important economic activity in the region, as it provides quality animal protein, generates employment and provides foreign exchange.
