Solving mathematical problems to develop critical thinking in elementary school students
Abstract
The mathematical problem solving approach to promote critical thinking in students, sets us the objectives: 1. - what is conceptually and theoretically understood by mathematical problem solving, 2.- what is conceptually and theoretically understood by critical thinking and 3. - analyze the impact of solving mathematical problems on the development of critical thinking in students. A review of the literature supported by the analysis-synthesis method was carried out. The results are oriented to the didactic steps proposed by Polya for solving mathematical problems using heuristic strategies. Critical thinking in students will allow them to evaluate, analyze and question the reasoning and statements that our environment presents us. Finally, it was revealed that the resolution of mathematical problems has a positive impact on the development of critical thinking, which will lead the student to achieve higher order learning.
