Solving mathematical problems in the development of creative thinking

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze how the resolution of mathematical problems contributes to the development of creative thinking in elementary school students, for which a review of scientific texts has been carried out using the analysis-synthesis method. The findings obtained confirm that solving mathematical problems encourages creative thinking and allows for innovative ideas not only in an educational context but also in real life. For their part, teachers must design challenging and motivating mathematical problems to impact creative thinking skills, which also allows them to develop self-esteem, self-worth and the student's confidence for better personal performance.
