Subject proposal on plastic materials to enhance scientific and professional training in engineering students
Abstract
The plastics industry has developed in Cuba, however, the contents associated with the technologies that characterize it are not reflected in the study plans of engineering careers, with graduates presenting a lack in this area of knowledge. In the work, a subject called "Plastics transformation processes" is proposed, which includes synthesis, properties, applications, processes, maintenance, recycling and sustainability in this industry. The didactic structuring of the contents distributed by themes and forms of teaching is presented, as well as the skills to develop and the basic knowledge to acquire. The results obtained with Industrial Engineering students from the University of Holguín show that their scientific and professional training is enhanced.
