The treatment of environmental education through songs as a didactic tool

Abstract

The work offers a brief review of the use of songs as a didactic tool, that allows the development of an environmental awareness in first year students of the Foreign Languages major at Universidad de Oriente, from Santiago de Cuba. In it, some references related to the use of songs with environmental content or messages, that can be used as a motivating way in English lessons, are exposed, been widely accepted by students. In the same way, some definitions given by authors, who have worked on the theme related to the use of songs, and activities that are applied from their own curriculum, to promote environmental awareness in the students, so that they change their behaviour in different settings in which they interact, inside and outside the educational institution.
