Glossary for the use of the Cuadernos Martianos I of primary education

Abstract

In this work the characteristics of a glossary of terms used by José Martí in the Cuadernos Martianos I are exposed, in whose elaboration the principles of modern lexicography and the theoretical conception of the Master about the importance of active and creative learning were taken into account , and its possibilities of application in the teaching of the mother tongue. Surveys were applied to schoolchildren and teachers in order to verify the use given to the Martian Notebooks in primary education, to detect the main difficulties in this regard and, in the case of schoolchildren, to check the level of understanding of the Martian lexicon present in the works contained in this book. The results of the study demonstrated the need for a linguistic tool such as the one proposed, which will allow schoolchildren to improve their understanding of Martian texts and oral and written expression.
