University-government integration for the sustainable local development in the municipalities of the Santiago de Cuba

Abstract

In the present investigation actions are proposed to contribute to local development in the province of Santiago de Cuba, from merging the work of the Municipal University Centers and the Government of the territory, with the main objective of achieving in a coordinated way the resolution of the barriers and the use of potential, in accordance with the priorities of each municipality, thus enabling the training of officials, decision-makers and local actors to increase production and quality of services as well as the improvement of the living conditions of the population. It is university management to ensure government competence and maximize the use of resources available to municipalities and increase their management capabilities towards the endogenous development process, giving priority to activities gestated from and for the own municipality.
